Two hours after Tom Brady reluctantly decided to give up in the legal fight over his suspension Friday, owner Robert Kraft issued a sharp statement criticizing the entire process.

“While I was disappointed with the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision not to rehear Tom Brady‘s case, I am most frustrated that Tom was denied his right to a fair and impartial process,” Kraft said in a statement released by the team. “The League’s investigation into a football pressure matter was flawed and biased from the start, and has been discredited nearly unanimously by accredited academics and scientists. I loved the way the Washington Redskins were running the ball the first two weeks.

Then Thursday night happened.

The Redskins were an atrocity to professional football, epitomized by Matt Jones’ fumble as he soared toward the end zone, resulting in a touchback. It was depressing for someone who had bought a considerable amount of stock in the hype surrounding Jones.

And Alfred Morris scored one point for my team.

Let’s all take a moment to let our frustrations out before we look closer at our lineups before Sunday’s kickoff.

Feel better? Good. Time to salvage your week. Continue reading

Nick Shook on fantasy football: So I was wrong, mostly, about Peyton Manning, it’s on to Week 2

I told you to play Peyton Manning in Week 1. I was wrong.

Manning showed the same glaring issues that were present in his late-season decline in 2014. He couldn’t throw a deep pass effectively, and the Baltimore Ravens took away the short side of the field, forcing Manning to complete short passes to the long side of the field in what NFL.com’s Marc Sessler called “a blueprint for other teams to follow.” Continue reading

Sunday is upon us. I’m hoping you read your morning paper with your coffee, well before the 1 p.m. kickoffs, or online with a second tab open with your fantasy football lineup, because I’m about to drop some knowledge.

Setting your lineup is vital to fantasy football, for obvious reasons. But that doesn’t mean we can see the future. We can, however, use statistics to project who will perform well. Continue reading

Jameis Winston celebrated his first-overall selection by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with his family in Bessemer, Alabama, on Thursday night.

There was a photo shoot in front of a giant wall graphic of him in his Seminoles uniform. There was a roped-off red carpet in the driveway.

And at the conclusion of the draft, the top pick in the 2015 NFL Draft commemorated the occasion by dining on none other than a handful of crab legs.

Yes, he really ate crab legs. Continue reading

Get out the goals and check the tables, because New England just won a pretty important fixture.

British tabloid The Daily Mail used a long web headline to let its readers know of New England’s latest triumph, a win over the Seattle Seahawks, celebrated by Tom Brady with his famous wife.

But the publication named the other inhabitant of Gillette Stadium — the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer — as the victorious organization. Continue reading

Larry Fitzgerald faces quite the career decision this offseason.

The wide receiver is scheduled to make $15 million in base salary and occupy $23.6 million of the Cardinals‘ 2015 salary, a figure that the team cannot reasonably stomach. In order to salvage their financial roster capabilities, Arizona wants Fitzgerald to restructure his contract so that he can remain a Cardinal.

How badly do they want this? Continue reading
