Erin Henderson spent the 2014 season out of the league, but he’s getting a chance to return.
The 28-year-old linebacker has signed with the New York Jets, the team announced on Wednesday.
Henderson last played with the Minnesota Vikings, where he spent six seasons and tallied 187 solo tackles, but was cut in February 2014 following two arrests for drunk driving in three months (the second arrest also included a charge for marijuana possession). He was suspended four games for violating the NFL Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse, and served the suspension without a team.
Henderson told USA Today last April that he “cannot be more grateful” for his arrests, because it revealed to him the downward spiral his life was taking. Now, after sitting out of football in 2014, he appears to be sober and ready to make his return.
