Adrian Clayborn’s sacks power Falcons past Cowboys

Adrian Clayborn took advantage of a Tyron Smith-less Cowboys offensive line and the Atlanta Falcons(5-4) rolled the Cowboys (5-4) in Dallas’ first game without suspended Ezekiel Elliott.

1. This Cowboys team is a shell of itself when it’s missing Ezekiel Elliott and Tyron Smith. That much was evident from the beginning in how often Dak Prescott was pressured, and it became even more obvious when the Cowboys found themselves trailing and forced to throw. Adrian Clayborn absolutely dominated Chaz Green in pass-rushing scenarios, utilizing speed rushes, bull rushes, spins and rips to rack up six sacks and a forced fumble. Instead of being an offense that can move the chains when it needs to and will grind out long touchdown drives on the back of Elliott, it became one featuring Prescott throwing for his life. On Sunday, that wasn’t enough to beat a Falcons team that played inspired football for 60 minutes. Continue reading

The 2017 season has witnessed the rise of the unexpected — at least in the NFC.

Two of the conference’s underachievers in 2016 — Los Angeles and Philadelphia — have risen to the top. Sure, every year sees some turnover, some surprises and some disappointments. But the clips at which these two teams are playing is impressive.

Both put up 50-burgers on their opponents last week, and Week 10 is Philadelphia’s bye, which means the players are free to do a little traveling if they so desire. Eagles offensive lineman Brandon Brooksstopped by the NFL Media compound on Tuesday and we sat down to talk about why this Eagles offense is finding success.

“You want one word for why the offense is rolling the way it is?” Brooks asked. “Carson.”

He’s talking about Wentz, of course, the second-year quarterback who is setting the league on fire with his play. He’s a big part of why the Eagles are 8-1. But he’s not the only reason. Continue reading

Sunday’s fracas in Jacksonville resulted in the ejection of two players.

One still has something to say about the other.

After his pestering caused Bengals receiver A.J. Green to lose his cool and take him down to the ground by the neck, Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey broke down his approach to trash talking on Wednesday. He wasn’t shy. Continue reading

We haven’t seen Sam Bradford since early October — and we won’t see him again this regular season.

The Vikings quarterback was placed on injured reserve Wednesday a day after he underwent a knee scope by Dr. James Andrews to clean it out, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources informed of the situation.

In better news for the Vikings, the team activated Teddy Bridgewater off the physically unable to perform list — his first time back on the active roster since suffering a horrific knee injury in August 2016. Continue reading

Air supremacy often dominates the modern game of football. In Week 9, it dominated the game’s award winners.

Fan of quarterbacks? You’ll be pleased to see who takes home the NFC hardware. Supporter of wide receivers? Well, why don’t we direct you to our first honoree? His name is Eugene Marquis, but you might know him as T.Y. Hilton. Continue reading

The NFC West has produced the NFL’s most surprising team through nine weeks: the 6-2 Los Angeles Rams.

NFL Network’s Steve Wyche even locked them up on Tuesday as his guarantee for a postseason berth. But what one might not know about the division is those trailing the Rams are just a game and two games behind them. With half of the season left to play, there’s plenty of time for the others to catch up — starting with Thursday night. Continue reading

It might seem as though everything is quickly taking a turn for the worst within the Giants‘ organization, but Eli Manning seems quite skilled at tuning out the madness.

A day after Giants coach Ben McAdoo said he wasn’t opposed to throwing backup Davis Webb into the game “to get a look at him,” Manning took the high — or publicly unaware — road. Continue reading

Josh Gordon is back with the Cleveland Browns — and this time, he’s planning on sticking around.

Gordon returned to the team’s Berea, Ohio, facility on Tuesday for the first time since the league announced his reinstatement on a conditional basis last week. He’ll join his teammates on the same grass fields in the quaint Cleveland suburb on Wednesday for conditioning work and individual drills. The earliest Gordon can officially practice is Nov. 20.
