The Summer of Kevin Durant (and eye-popping free agent contracts elsewhere) is in full swing in the NBA, but Saturday reached a new level of unusual thanks to the inclusion of one notable professional athlete.

While teams such as the Houston Rockets were bringing in stars past and present to coerce free agents to sign on the dotted line, the Boston Celtics took it one step further.

You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who would argue with the notion that Cordarrelle Patterson is on his last leg in Minnesota.

That includes Cordarrelle Patterson.

The Vikings receiver, who showed flashes of big-play ability in his rookie season of 2013, wasn’t shy about his precarious position.

“People say, ‘It’s your make or break year,’ ” Patterson said, per the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “I’ve just got to go out and do what I’m supposed to. It’s a big year for me. … We all know what I can do, and I’ve just got to show the coaches I can be there when I need to be, and be on time, be in the right place, the right depth on routes catching the ball. The euphoria surrounding the Cleveland Cavaliers’ first NBA championship did not arrive without fans first waiting for the punch in the gut. But when that punch never came, renewed optimism flooded the streets of Cleveland.

Apparently, it made its way down to the lakefront, and FirstEnergy Stadium.

Jameis Winston celebrates draft by eating crab legs

Jameis Winston celebrated his first-overall selection by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with his family in Bessemer, Alabama, on Thursday night.

There was a photo shoot in front of a giant wall graphic of him in his Seminoles uniform. There was a roped-off red carpet in the driveway.

And at the conclusion of the draft, the top pick in the 2015 NFL Draft commemorated the occasion by dining on none other than a handful of crab legs.

CLEVELAND — In an offseason filled mostly by Johnny Manziel headlines and low-excitement signings, the Cleveland Browns gave their fans a reason to cheer Tuesday for the first time since their final win of 2014.

Nearly 3,000 Browns supporters — a majority of which were season-ticket holders, according to the team — flowed into the Cleveland Convention Center to pose for pictures with super fans, current and past players, and even the team’s live canine mascot, Swagger. The scene — beer-clutching fans clad in orange and brown, chanting for their team — resembled an indoor tailgate as those in attendance awaited the main event: the introduction of new uniforms.
